In recent years, the old way of creating, marketing and selling music has been steadily dismantled by the exponential increases in technology. Today, new energy is revitalizing the industry, as crafty marketing, strategic partnerships, and inventive ways to discover and distribute bands are taking hold. From this environment has emerged VEL RECORDS, a new collaborative venture of veteran music industry professional that embraces the dynamic, evolving landscape of the music business.
The NY Tapes lives on sweaty dance floors, in the back of taxis, and on Parisian rooftops kissing as the sun comes up.
A child of chanson française and the Berlin club scene, Chloé paints a world where effortless glamour, smoky cafés, and poetic rebellion still feed the spirit of youth as it unapologetically spins through the streets of downtown NY.
The NY Tapes is a modern-day love letter to the golden age of the 1960s’ French New Wave, every song feels like a secret you’re dying to tell.

Deluka is a British-American indie rock and new-wave band originally formed in Birmingham, UK in 2004. The lineup includes Ellie Innocenti (vocals/guitar), Kris Kovacs (guitar, production), Robbie G (bass), and Stevie J. Palmer (drums).
Their music blends sharp electro-pop, new wave, and indie rock, drawing comparisons to acts like The Sounds and Metric. Deluka’s signature sound—synth-heavy with punk spirit and pop hooks—earned them early praise from NME and Dazed & Confused.
After relocating to Brooklyn, NY, the band signed to Vel Records and released a self-titled EP in 2009. This was followed by their critically acclaimed album You Are the Night (2010), which included standout tracks like “Cascade” (featured in The Sims 3: High-End Loft Stuff) and “Nevada” (source)
Their 2014 EP BONDS, produced by Tim Pagnotta (Neon Trees, Walk the Moon), included the single “Home”, which premiered via Vice’s Noisey (Noisey premiere). Another track, “Black Magic,” gained attention after being featured in NBA Live 15
Deluka has remained a fixture on the alt-electronic scene with songs appearing in various games and TV shows. Their energetic live performances and crossover appeal have kept them a cult favorite among indie and electronic pop fans.
WESLEE is a transatlantic electro-R&B duo composed of Emma DD (a London-born vocalist) and Josh Grant (a Kansas-raised producer). The two met serendipitously in New York City around 2014 during a songwriting session, sparking a creative partnership built on emotional storytelling and sonic chemistry.
Their debut single “Gassed” dropped in 2017 and instantly caught attention, earning BBC Radio 1’s “Hottest Record” within a day of release. The track set the tone for their future—sultry vocals over glitchy, polished production. It also found a home in pop culture, appearing on the TV series You’re the Worst.
WESLEE released their first EP, 9F, in 2018, featuring standout tracks like “Bathwater,” “Boy Like You,” “Tongue Tied,” and “London Love.” “Boy Like You” notably closed an episode of Grey’s Anatomy, further cementing the band’s presence in the mainstream. Additional singles like “Venus,” “Peaches,” “Something Bout You,” and “Love You I Do” continued to show their versatility and layered production.
Deliberately elusive in their early days, Emma and Josh allowed their music—not personalities—to drive the WESLEE identity. This minimal image cultivated intrigue and authenticity. Critics and tastemakers from Complex, Clash, Wonderland, The Line of Best Fit, and BBC’s Annie Mac and Pete Tong praised their genre-blending sound.
In 2023, WESLEE released their “Worlds” project—an introspective collection that reaffirmed their signature blend of indie-R&B and alternative pop. With over 70 million streams to date and sold-out shows in London, Brooklyn, and Los Angeles, the duo has built a global following drawn to their raw, emotional energy.
Cady Groves (July 30, 1989 – May 2, 2020) was a talented American singer-songwriter known for her candid, emotionally charged pop-rock and country-infused songs. Hailing from Emporia, Kansas, and raised in Marlow, Oklahoma, she discovered her musical passion early—starting drums at age 4 thanks to her musician stepfather
After graduating high school at 16 and attending culinary school, Groves pivoted fully to music, releasing her debut EP A Month of Sundays in 2009, followed by The Life of a Pirate in 2010. That year she signed with RCA Records, touring with acts like All Time Low and Good Charlotte. In 2012, she dropped her This Little Girl EP under RCA
Her music featured relatable anthems like “Oh Darling,” “Forget You,” and “Love Actually,” which gained attention through both streaming and media placements—including The Smurfs 2 soundtrack . In 2015, she self-released the EP Dreams and the single “Whiskey & Wine” with Christian Burghardt.
Groves’ songwriting was deeply rooted in her personal experiences—candid reflections on heartbreak and family tragedies, including the loss of two brothers. Her bold honesty resonated powerfully with fans and critics alike; one longtime guitarist and friend described her as “contagious… emotionally engulfed,” whose tragedies fueled “wonderful art” but also took an emotional toll.
She continued to build her catalog with singles like “Oil and Water” (with an official video on YouTube) and “Crying Game.” Her final work, the Bless My Heart EP, was released posthumously in May 2020.
At just 30, Groves passed away due to natural causes, leaving behind a devoted fanbase and a legacy of heartfelt, confessional songwriting.
